Lise Duarte Nuñez

Orchestral percussionist & educator

Percussion · Pedagogy · Musical Thinking

Technique is a consequence of musical intention.

A phrase to shape. An audition to prepare. A sound to imagine. My work connects orchestral percussion, musical thinking and the decisions that bring a score to life.

I am Lise Duarte Nuñez, percussionist, educator and creator of the MTDM Method. Discover my performances, explore my approach, or bring your own musical project to our work together.

The MTDM Method

From the score to the sound.

The MTDM Method is a framework in eight stages. It trains musical thinking before technical execution: what the music does, what it should sound like — and only then, how the body produces it.

01 · ScoreThe written text as starting point.

02 · ListeningHearing what is actually there.

03 · AnalysisUnderstanding structure, harmony and form.

04 · Musical FunctionWhat this passage does in the music.

05 · Imagined SoundHearing the sound before producing it.

06 · Technical DecisionsChoosing sticking, dynamics and articulation.

07 · GestureThe body executes the intention.

08 · Sound ResultThe sound that finally arrives.
